Launched initially in 1996 in New York City, MSNBC focuses on news and political commentary, featuring interviews and rolling coverage throughout the day on US-centric and International news stories. Originally the channel was a joint venture of MSN (Microsoft Network) and NBC (National Broadcasting Company) but has since become a product of the NBC Corporation. MSNBC’s live-streamed broadcasts include nightly news, regional weather forecasts, and sports highlights from current matches.
The MSNBC channel now features left-leaning discussion and debate programs, complemented with daytime opinion news content and assorted business/finance tv shows, like Shark Tank and Deadline: White House.

MSNBC (a division of NBC Universal) focuses on offering at least 8 hours of original live news programming. Originally devised as a news vehicle for Microsoft’s network of media websites and media ventures, the station was divested in 2015 allowing the newly formed NBC Universal to acquire it and rebrand it for a slightly younger and tech-savvy consumer base, paired with radio and satellite offerings.
