Africanews was launched in 2016 as a joint venture between Euronews, a leading international news network, and the multimedia conglomerate, APO Group. The primary objective was to create a dedicated TV channel that focuses on providing objective and and up-to-date news coverage focused exclusively on Africa. This initiative aimed to counter the prevailing narrative of limited coverage and misconceptions about the African continent.

Africanews strives to provide an independent perspective on the issues and opportunities facing Africans, as told by locals and not foreign perceptions or stereotypes. Feature over 30 journalists and 55 technical staffers, Africa news broadcasts to over 32 pan-African countries.

Programs are broadcast in both English and French to provide an African voice and editorial perspective to emerging news stories occurring across the continent and world. The channel aims to provide the latest reports, breaking news coverage, and analysis features on what’s happening in Africa, including special reports across the African diaspora. Africanews has won several awards, including the Content Innovation Awards and Grand Prix des Medias CB News.
